L$ Not Authorized…? (O.o)

TOS update today.  Now, exchanging labbiemonies with RLmonies by any other service than the LL run Lindex has become “Not Authorized“.  (=_=)

To me, that’s a very open ended statement.  It reminds me of the lane-splitting that Cali motorcycle riders so enjoy.  Like, it’s not legal to ride between lanes of cars BUT!! It’s not illegal either. (O.o)

That is to say, feel free to do it but don’t come crying to us if you’re punished for it. (o.O)

Illegal lane use aside, what if “NA” now means that any other exchanges are banned.  What few I know of don’t seem to have a history of fraud.  Others aid in transferring monies from one grid to the next.  Sparing us the extra step of L$ >> $ >> ?$ real monies. (^_^)

What is being said here?  Let’s lookie at the official TOS text… (>.>)

Third party exchanges are not authorized by Linden Lab and Buying or Selling Linden dollars on third party exchanges are not authorized transactions. Third party exchanges are wholly distinct from both the LindeX exchange and Linden Lab and they have no affiliation with Linden Lab. What is this telling us?  How will they identify unauthorized activity?  Does this mean that using non Lindex exchanges could possibly lead them to simply take our monies away? (O.o)

A Crunchy Start For CHUI. (>_<)

Generally, I’m quite pleased with any UI handed to me.  I liked the V2, V3, V3.4 progressions.  But, with the latest CHUI update, I’m a bit less than pleased. (._.)

Now, I have been able to arrange my chat window layout as I like it; undocked local chat, and all.  But, even undocked chat windows are children to the momma Conversations window.  So, if I close one, the rest fall with it.  Well… Not all the time.  If I close it then press enter to chat locally, I get the local chat window back and solo this time. (O.o)

So, right away, it’s inconsistent. (T_T)

Also, CHUI has eaten the chat console.  That lovely little chat bar with semi transparent text that fades away after a moment or two.  I’m going to miss that.  I liked having text on the screen long enough to read and absorb then self-clean it from my sight.  Bye-bye chat console. (._.)

Also, I know vertical tabs is popular.  But, not with me.  DX

They crowd out the text.  I don’t mind seeing fewer tabs.  I want to see more text.  Gladly, they can be reduced to icons.  But, ew!  I want full width text. (>_<)

Here’s my FS to LL comparisons… Attempting to keep the UI as much as I prefer as possible… (o.o)

At this point, I find nothing that I can’t get used to.  But, there are some things I’ll miss.  For now, I’ll drop FireStorm for a while and run LL’s latest and see if it’s crashy on me.  (^_^)y

Creativity Done Gone? (._.)

Two things came up this week which made me think. (O.o)

One: I closed the NCI newbie mall.  Not without reason.  Applications have gone from the 2 per week I was experiencing a couple years ago to now 1 per month.  And, often, that 1 didn’t create anything yet so I’d have to turn them down. (>_<)

Two: This post on the SL forum.

And, I really have to think.  What is the creative market in SL like these days? (o.O)

That is, who’s making what?  Why are my favourite stores becoming so slow to update?  Why have some stores stopped updating at all?  And how dependent on prefabs are SL creators becoming all around? (._.)

Even the NCI sandboxes have often been reduced to a couple oldbies trying out small builds while everyone else pretty much hovers around in IMs or some open chatting.  I remember when at least half of the crowd was trying to make something new.  Now, that just ain’t the story anymore. (T_T)

At the same time, I’m rebuilding my sim to be a nice haunted little spot to explore a bit and I’m not relying on prefabbed buildings this time around.  I had made some mesh walls with window and door cutouts and I’m finally putting them to use.  They’re bloody hell to align, but, when in place they match a prim build but only use 1/3 to 1/4 of the overall LI prims and sculpts would use.  (^_^)

Still, when I get updates from the store groups I’m in, they’re more often than not new ‘discounts’ as opposed to new items.  Instead of branching off and creating new things, they’re just shuffling the prices on what they’ve already had for a while.  (>_<)

There are exceptions, I know.  Graves has been doing new outfits lately and even working in some mesh details.  DE just released some self-made mesh cargo pants which are insanely detailed.  (^_^)

But, they’re not the norm now.  (>_<)

There are so many stores lately which haven’t updated a thing.  They just sit, idle, and maybe make something new when a fresh prefab/template comes about. (._.)

There could be some argument that the creative people have moved out to open grids, but as a member of OSgrid and InWorldz and a few others, I’m yet to see anything that really shows a ‘2013’ sense of newness. (>_<)

The fun part is that it has reached the “Awaiting Review” stage… Meaning, there’s hope just yet! =^-^=

Hope for what, you say? (O.o)

Okay, picture this: You manage a volunteer help group and people regularly join just to start crap or spam their new nipple piercings at their store, but they’re “not advertising” because they’re helping people find the best nipple piercings in SL… And so and so and so forth. XD

Or, imagine: You manage a discussion group.  Yeah, that’s it, just a group for chit chat for the sake of chit chat.  But, there are some people who are in it for the gold and want to rile up as big a crowd as they can find.  (O.o)

Well, what option do you have right now?  You could close the group and make it invitation only.  But,  you don’t want people to have to jump through hurdles… Particularly if it’s their first day in SL and they don’t even know ~HOW~ to ask for an invite or even know what groups are just yet. (>_<)

You could eject the person from your group… Over, and over, and over, and over… because it’s their goal to drive everyone nuts and enjoy the idea that you can’t really stop them. (>_<)

Well, now, if you ain’t read that Jira yet, here it goes… You can BLACKLIST people from joining your group! \(^o^)/

Or, at least, not yet.  But, it seems like it may be a possibility soon. (^_^)

This will be a boon for open groups to really lay down the law while remaining available for those who can appreciate the workings of a community. (^_^)

This is better

Remember when I went psycho?

Remember when I chased my best friends away?

Things are turning around since then.

Starting with one more adjustment of my meds and the addition of Lolita in my life, I’ve been improving.  In nearly a year, I haven’t been in the mood I was during that meltdown.

I’m sure my cat has been the best little fuzzy therapist I could ever dream of having.

Either way, it’s been a year since my meltdown and the resulting exit of my best friends.  It’s been a year of me finding other ways to spend my time.  A year of challenging my limited social skills to try to make new friendships.  A year of turning to past experiences, games, movies, and of course the cat.

I’ve been spending a lot more time in NCI.  But, the PG-ness of the place has always rubbed me the wrong way.  It’s nice to volunteer and support the community.  But, I don’t get my chance to be me there.

I’ve since joined in with another circle of friends.  Though, the ‘things we have in common’ lists have turned out to be too short for our good.  To put it really frankly, I simply didn’t find anyone who could fill me like my best friends.

And, they are my best friends.  If you’ve read my Twitter or Plurk feeds over the past year, you’ll have found that I’ve held on to that notion.  They “ARE”… Not “were”, not “used to be”, not “former”… I still hold that to be true that they remain my best friends in spite of the rift formed between us.

Which is why I’m more than happy to say that rift has shrunk a bit.

Just this morning, the best of my best friends contacted me again.  In what’s now nearly a week away from being a whole year of disconnection, she finally did reach out to me again.  This has been a very bright point to my day and I hope it marks the end of what has been a considerably dark year for me.

We’re back to chatting about the little things.  Guitars, oddball social things, SL stuff, electronics, and the rest of our friends.

I feel like I can start breathing again.  The fallout of my outburst is starting to fade.  I can only hope for the best and moreso that I can have the people I appreciate the most back in my life again.
