Quickie: Why Brown? (^_^)

I kinda remember Lias’ question last night about “why Brown?” while I was walking into my dining room…  Where I grabbed my daily gaze upon my Hammond B3. (^_^)

And, I was all, That’s it!! XD

Yes, I could have bought SL land anywhere.  I already have a lot of SL land. (^_^)

But at the same time, I could have bought a brand new Hammond XK-1 or a Roland VK-88 at less than half the price of the B3 and would have an organ that sounded just the same*. (^_^)

But, I didn’t.  Instead, I shelled out enough cash to buy a brand new Honda Civic with leather seats for a beast of an organ that doesn’t even fit up my hallway to make it to my room. (>_<)

Why?  Because it’s a FSKing Hammond B3!  I mean, one of the most legendary gospel/blues/jazz/rock organs in the history of music. =^-^=

Same goes for Brown.  That sim is SL history.  It was the Labbies first attempt at zoning mainland.  It was relatively successful.  There are a bunch of artifacts around such as the freebie suburban home and the zoning guidelines notecard written back in 2003.  That’s frigg’n legendary.  I want in on it. =^-^=

 

*Nothing, but nothing, but NOTHING sounds the same as an original B3! (=_=)

So, someone out there in the blogosphere is trying to say I’m anti-nipple.  Nuuuuu!  Far from it!  I mean… Look at the things! XD

Hows about, it’s 9-bloody-30 in the morning, I been asleep all night, and I’m currently at work?  You know… That stuff people with a life do. =^-^=

And, yeah, I’m at work.  That doesn’t have to mean I’m ~doing~ work.  So mleagh! Xp

But, anyway… (^_^)

Sounds like someone got in trouble for breaking the rules and it’s somehow my fault they got caught.  Best I can say is that I’m loud.  (^_^)

And, it’s weird…  I mean, if I complain about something publicly enough, it just goes away. (O.o)

I offered a gesture to see if they’d out themselves to me (that offer is still open, I can keep a secret if you’re skeered) but, so far no nothing ain’t anybody responded. (=_=)

Still… This is quite telling.  Linden Lab’s un-spoken policy of “AR or it didn’t happen” holds true.  I guess the nudie stuff has been up for a long time, but, it took someone popping around to report the stuff before the Labbies did anything.  (=_=)

Which reinforces my point of view.  If we, as SL residents (Tateru: customers) would just mind our bloody business, lots of these pinny-anny bans would never occur.  But, someone’s always gotta get uptight.  Like, the exposed female nipple is the most harmful thing against civilized society, or something. (=_=)

Hairy, greasy, smelly dude-nips pass muster, though. (=_=)

I like the comparitive pictures over there.  Two pictures of me, clothed and on Moderate land, in comparison to a nudie painting.  I guess that’s one of the nudies on PG that got chucked.  But, really?  Being dressed on Moderate is a more severe violation than nudity on PG?  I’d love to see where that’s documented… (=_=)

I like the story inconsistencies too.  And, boy, grasping at straws… Links and examples are going back to one-off events as far back as 2008, yet, depicted as current and described as constantly.  I guess exaggeration makes for exciting gossip. =^-^=

The ball gag picture comes up again! XD

I’m not a fan of inconsistent stories.  So, here goes, in my rough estimate of chronological order:

Story 1) I had a picture of myself with a ball gag on at SLpics.com

Story 2) The picture was deleted

Story 3) It was not deleted

Story 4) It was deleted then magically put back with the exact same time stamp and region coords (Cris must in on it…)

Story 5) The picture was in my profile (I never did this)

Story 6) The picture was removed from my profile (can’t remove what’s not there)

So… Which is it?  Pick one story.  You can’t have your cake and eat it too. (=_=)

Hmmm… Blind accusations.  Openly admitting to violating rules.  Never tells the same story twice.  Bans all dispute and dissent.  Creating scenarios that never existed and treating them like fact.  … Come on!  I wasn’t born yesterday, you know. =^-^=

My stuff in your stuff. =^-^=

I always do best when I think I’m actually solving a problem.  (^_^)

Though, that’s why I sucked so badly at school.  All the junk they taught there was solved already.  Otherwise, they wouldn’t be teaching it, would they? (O.o)

So… Making stuff in SL. =^-^=

When new things come out, I like to play with them.  Lately, I been excited by lag reducing script functions and other graphical trinkets given to play with. (^_^)

So, when we got the LinkedParamsFast thing, I dove in head first to make a menu based prim shrinker and later a resizer.  It was nice to see the script become quickly popular with friends… Particularly ones that need to downsize stuff with 0.010 prims. DX

Anyway, later on, I’ve had a shoe maker or two ask for permission to use it.  Hey, yeah!  I didn’t expect it to be good enough to sell, so, I let’em have it. XD

Then came avatar alpha masks.  (^_^)

Heh, I think I hold too low an opinion of shoe makers (greedy money grabbing basta…. OOP!O.O)…

Well, the first thing that came to mind were all the shoes I wore which had invisiprims.  So, I wanted to mod the buggers out!  I started with a simple one that merely killed the foot, but, that wasn’t enough.  So, I renamed it with a 0 and added 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6… Each one going higher up the leg. (^_^)

Up the leg wasn’t enough because I had some open top shoes, so, -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, and so on…  In the end, I had a rather huge collection and a tough time finding a pair of shoes they didn’t work with.  So, I box’d’em up and set them out for free.  Might as well, no?  They gave me what I wanted and can help others. =^-^=

This time around, I included a release.  So, nobody really IM’d me… Well… Except for people who bought shoes which included them and messaged me for customer support by accident. XD

Anyway, don’t bother me none.  And, a friend just told me today that her new shoes use my masks.  WIN!!! \(^o^)/

Next on up, I had a friend ask me to make a colour HUD for her shoes.  She and I never really considered buying a solution or hitting up a contract scriptor, so, good time for some collab work, no? =^-^=

It wound up being pretty slick.  Check it out! =^-^=

I figured a few features would be reasonable. (^_^)

  • The Lightness/Saturation box changes colour with the selection of a hue.
  • The first row of dots help find fixed colours so that you’re not fidgeting around.
  • The large middle dot displays the current colour set.
  • Finally the cluster of arrows and dots below make for ‘memory’ locations.

I’m hoping much of it already makes sense.  The top row lets you set fully saturated red, green, blue, along with solid black and solid white.  The final dot gets whatever hue you’re in and sets it to full Lightness and Saturation.  So, if you want epic yellow… There it is. =^-^=

The memory spots hide a little trick.  The down arrow stores the colour in the space by setting the face colour of the dot below.  So~o~o~o~o… All stored colours will even survive a script reset!! XD

From there I made a LinkedParamsFast colour changer to listen to the HUD and it all worked out in the end. =^-^=

Of course, what’s the use of tooting my own horn without showing stuff off!? (^_^)

And, here’s the slick part.  She included a touch of magic thanks to some newly available tricks that can be done now that invisiprims aren’t needed.  You can see they’re a bit shiny.  The shine never goes away.  You can set the bloody things to any colour and the shine and shade will look just bloody fine! XD

… Now, if I can only put some time into building my market… And the home for Brown… I should DJ more… GAH!!! DX

Thickness (O.O)

I’m seeing the term “Thin skinned” being tossed around a bit.  It got me to thinking about what I see in ‘thick skinned’ and ‘thin skinned’ people and where I fit in the equation. (O.o)

For one… I consider myself to be quite thin skinned.  There are some things that I simply allow to get to me.  At the same time, there are some things that I can totally shrug off.  So, what is that?  What is ‘thick skin’ anyway? (-_-)

I can imagine 2 ways of being ‘thick skinned’.  The easy one is being born with it.  The other is starting thin skinned but gradually thickening as time passes. (<.<)

… To be born with thick skin.  I guess that can lead to the bullish personalities we face once in a while.  The kinds of people who don’t want to be ‘messed with’ from the get-go… But, hang on, I think I’m already wrong here.  Usually the bullish personalities are quite reactionary.  They’re generally paranoid that people are out to get them which triggers the ‘don’t mess with me!’ response. (O.o)

Geh… There’s more layers here than I thought there were.  Stupid flow-of-thought. DX

Either way… Thick skin… Okay, so these are the people who can take the brunt of abuse and just dust it off.  Mind you, if you hit hard enough, they will still be hurt.  But, that makes the hitter look more the jerk given the amount of effort exerted in order to get under the thick skin.  I guess that makes them great people to have around in order to stand up to bullies. (^_^)

But, thin skin.  Just about everything is an injury.  There’s not much to break through to get into this person.  Ah, there’s the reason for being so defensive… Or even aggressive or even a bit crazy.  Just thinking of it now.  If someone is so vulnerable, they build up different defense mechanisms that are more consciously driven and active than their armored counterparts. (>_<)

What can I call it?  Maybe, a ‘flailing personality’? (O.o)

It can come in the form of bullying, the most offensive way to defend a weakness.  It can exhibit itself in isolation, paranoia, maybe even depression and … antisocialism? (O.o)

When someone’s thickness is formed over time, it may exhibit in different ways.  This is just me thinking. As long as the words are flowing through my head, I’ll be stabbing at the keyboard. =^-^=

Anyway… To develop thin skin over time… To develop thick skin over time… I don’t know how to separate the two. (._.)

What I’m thinking is that both types are products of some sort of abuse.  Some injuries dig deep and leave behind sensitive scars.  Others build up and allow a callous to form.  Either way, it’s a change and bound to impact how someone handles conversation and dispute. (o.o)

Where am I going with this?  I dunno.  I’m just going. (O.o)

Well… Myself.  I consider myself someone with skin of variable thickness… Ruddy?  Calloused?  I wonder if there really is a fun word for that. (O.o)

I’ve recognized a lot of my life has been affected by forms of semantic griefing in one form or another.  From the emotional blackmail that defined my marriage and even affects it today.  To the utterly dishonest trolls I face online.  …

Oh! Just thought of something! (O_O)

My marriage.  What has been wearing away at me has actually been forming a callous.  Why, I say?  Well, given events of the past year or two I have changed my role completely.  This coming July marks two entire years without any physical self abuse.  And, I’ve recently put my foot down on subjects such as religion and personal space. (-_-)

So… I’m thin skinned with callouses.  I guess that makes sense.  There are things I’m still allowing to get to me. Liars, for one.  I have the unavoidable urge to defend myself and the people I care about.  Lies, I can’t stand lies.  I feel the need to address them.  I have a fear that someone I care about will believe that lie and there goes yet another friendship. (T_T)

Am I wrong for thinking this way?  Probably. (._.)

But, hey… It’s just me.  I’m hard headed.  I guess it’s best to grow skin thick where it matters.  It’s finding what matters that winds up being the tough part. (._.)

I’m sure, from your point of view, all the events occurred as you’ve been told in the past. I readily believe that less than 10% of these events ACTUALLY happened.

I’m in no place to prove that anything didn’t happen.

But, I’ve seen too many situations contrived by a delusional person’s fantasy view of the world around to believe a vast majority of the claims.

You may have “been there”. But, so was I. Difference being, I was out beyond the range of the blinders.

As a result, I’m going to state a rather uncharacteristic…
