100 spams! (^_^)

You may not see what’s going on in the background here, but, WordPress and my own web host provide my with a ton of tools to keep this place running smoothly. (^_^)

One of them is Akismet. When ever someone sends in a comment, Akismet pattern matches it with other entries which could have been marked as spam in the past. So far, it’s only had two false positives, and I’m able to de-spam them once I spot’em. (^_^)

Well… Today… Right now… The 100th item has been dropped into my spam folder. It’s someone with a suspiciously convenient user name and link that go back to some window glass provider. (^_^)

The comment is as generic as heck. The fun part is, the response doesn’t address anything I’ve said at all. =^-^=

Now, I think I’ve let a few pass in the past, but, meh. After a while, I installed this Akismet thing and things have been pretty wicked since. =^-^=

Introducing Humble, Rod. (^_^)

So, LL got themselves a new CEO. I’m already bloody irked because they ain’t told us what his “Linden” account will be. DX

Who the flip am I gonna send my holiday card to!?!?!?! DX

Anyone wanna take bets? Rod Linden? Humble Linden? R Linden? Oh, wait… We’re in display name territory now. Uhm… ceo.resident? QUICK!!! Someone register RodHumble.resident while you can!!! XD

Either way, there he is. The dood has a nice big background in the game industry… Looks like he done some solo projects on the side too. (^_^)

So far, his introduction is filled with the typical ‘corporatisms’ that generally come with an exec. staff change. So, meh. (=_=)

Still… Dunno what to expect. Coming from such a gaming background, will he lead projects with the goal of sterilizing and homogenizing the grid? Will he target the technical or social aspects of SL? One thing’s for sure, we ain’t gonna know anything until mid January. (=_=)

So… It’s wait-and-see time. I do hope he delivers what the residents like to see. (^_^)

Oh… Do he got a Twitter account yet? FSK’n classy if he lets us know. =^-^=

“Why are you so controversial”… << That was a question someone asked me the other day. I had to think about it. Couldn't really come up with a solid answer... (O.o) ... Because I'm... Loud? (o.O) The RL me is already pretty wild. Though, I'm not social, I have no qualms with making noise in public, dyeing my hair all kinds of funky colours, wearing giant shiny red platform combat boots, and driving like a psychopath in a car that a psychopath should really avoid. =^-^= In a way, there's an "Immy" inside of me screaming to burst out, naked from head to toe, and run down the street shouting greetings, jokes, and jabs at all the people I pass by. FRIGG'N S'UP!? XD Oh, yeah... I kinda get to do that in SL. Hard Gay "Hooooo!!!" gesture at the ready. =^-^= Thing is... Old people... (=_=) Sh'yeah, I'm talking about the geezers who would rather have people fit their little boxy concepts of what "being civilized" is. Frigg'n annoy me, they do. And, I found that being old ain't even an age thing. I've found people that turned into geezers in their 20s while an 80yo here and there really do a good job of showing their badazzness. =^-^= Thing is... Geezers can be loud too. So, no doubt, they'll find a way to have a say about things too. And, when I'm spotted acting as their concept of an "edgecaser", deviant, miscreant, or whatever... Well, they wanna tell the world. They get the giant pointer finger of the internet and announce "Look at that! That's the bad one we're fighting against!"... LOLWUT? (O.o) I'm not bad... I'm just rezzed that way. =^-^= But, anyway, I'm bold about myself. I'm bloody proud of the freakshow I can be sometimes. Or, as Dr. Death Defy says in the opening of "Na Na Na"... Louder than God's revolver and twice as shiny! Xd And, you know what? I wouldn't change a thing. And, for the geezers who'd prefer I be as bitter and miserable as they are... Well... I have region around my lower back that they can apply some lip service to. =^-^=

V2’s Epic spam feature of doom! >8D

I remember the last couple holidays… Click-drag-click-drag-click-drag all the way down my friends list… Frigg’n frustrating!!! DX

But, in V2, we have this “Share” button… Hmmmmmm. (o.O)

So… There’s my Holiday card… Ready to be pushed upon the masses. (^_^)

Here’s the resulting window… Tab tab tab, I see my friends list. Select the top name, scroll down, Shift+select the bottom name… (o.o)

Broken plugin + required plugin use = fail! DX

So, what’s this mean? It means I get no inworld browser. Which… Basically ruins search, inworld links, media on prim, and…. ACCEPTING THE NEW TOS!!! DX

Frigg’n ICK!!! (T_T)

So, I’ve tried the solutions. Re-install flash, verify the version of SLPlugin.exe, heck… I even uninstalled all the SL-ish clients I had, ran Ccleaner and started in on fresh installs. (=_=)

I don’t have that antivirus app mentioned in the Jiras. (>_<) I didn't have this problem any more that two days ago. (>_<) And, I had to jump through hoops and use Radegast to get myself and my alts all through the new TOS. DX Now... Who's got a REAL frigg'n fix!?!?! (>_<)

Thus opens the flood gates of a mud puddle. (o.o)

Some time between 11:30am and 12pm SLT(PST) today, the Second Life ToS update was released. Being… well… Myself, I read the bloody thing. At the same time, I was sending out notices to some inworld groups. I’m sure this Saturday’s Q&A is gonna be fun, indeed. =^-^=

So, basically, what happened? (O.o)

In the beginning, there was Second Life, and it was go… Naw, it sucked. Graphics were wonky, the client flipped out all the time, and challenging the physics engine in any way was almost a surefire way to crash a sim. (=_=)

Hang on… That wasn’t where I was going with this! (>_<) Okay... Like, SL started all up as a Virtual World [cue fanfare] service and very quickly became people's virtual sex dens. It's easy to blame Hentai fans for the growth in pixel-sex, but, naw... I'm gonna blame the lab for now. I'm just in that kinda mood. (^_^) Anyway... It surely wasn't a safe place for kids. So, yeah, as long as I remember it's been an 18 and over service. (^_^) Not quite sure when it happened, but, LL did piece together a teen grid. It was basically a different portion of the grid with specific land/avatar flags set so that nothing could cross over. Behind the scenes, there was only one grid. Out here where us peoples is at, there was two... Teen and Main. We couldn't reach them and they couldn't reach us. (^_^) Well, kinda. There was always the kid that lied about their age to get in the main grid and I'm bloody well sure that Uncle Lumpylap posed as a 14yo to become "good friends" with the lil'uns over there. (O.o) Well... The liars are still in their place, but, come the time the labbies throw the switch, the new rules will be... Put as simply as possible... 13-15 will have access to sponsored estates and only those estates... 16-17 will have access to all of the General(PG) sims... And adults will have access to the 16-17 year ol.... Ohmigod... (O_O) See... There's the rub. (>_<) Okay... Nearly everyone around seems to be all worried about access to content. "Teens will not have access to Moderate(Mature) and Adult sims", "Teens won't be exposed to adult content", and so and so and so forth. (=_=) But, yeah, so? Honestly... I don't care. Kids been sneaking into daddy's porn stash since the dawn of morality. Kids gonna see teh pixxl sehks. Nuuuu! Sh'right. They just spent an hour lurking RedTube before logging into SL. You ain't add'n anything to their repertoire. (=_=) But... Now that they're sharing space with adults... They're, uhm, sharing space with adults! Liek anon adults can IM the little scrubs now. Whoop-dee-poop, no? Uhm, yeah. (=_=) Okay, situation... Uncle Lumpylap... Wait, display names now... uncle.lumpylap gradually befriends lolita.freshcherry... They have some innocent fun. Prim Attack, boat rides, and sandbox projects fill their days. Eventually uncle starts drifting into getting more personal in IMs... I'll stop here... Ew. (>_<) Where's the protection? Sure, kids won't have access to adult content, but, adults will have access to kids. All they get is a page of "Safety Tips" which shows them how to mute and AR... Assuming they'll want to. (=_=) I foresee one of two situations coming. Situation 1: Things run like this, someone slips up and partners a teen, and the TV news swoops in. or 2: LL gets so tight and heavy handed with the General sim rules that an exposed belly button is reason enough for account termination. (._.) Yeah, I used extremes... But, is it that far off? I dunno... Time will tell. For now, I'll continue to be myself and see what comes of it. (^_^) Now, mind you, the quantity of teens coming over is pretty much a trickle compared to the overall population. So, it's sort of like opening the floodgates of a mud puddle. Odds are, I've met more teens in the past 3 years I've spent in SL than I'll see from now on. Still... That's one bloody toxic mud puddle. (>_<)
